Alaskan Tapes
Concept art by a film concept artist, and VFX by a studio, for an ambient record.
Alaskan Tapes is the ambient project of a Toronto musician whose video work is unusually resourced for the genre: directed by Andrew De Zen, with concept art by Andree Wallin and visual effects by Chemistry.
Concept art is a film-industry discipline and almost never appears in ambient music credits. Its presence tells you the images were designed before they were shot, which for a genre usually illustrated with drone footage of a coastline is a meaningful difference.
A date note: the video was published in 2026 but the material was shot in 2021.
